Debugging Error on Vista with VS2008 installed.

I have a Vista box that I am just getting set up.  I was trying to setup the box with VS 2008 and Speech Server 2007.  I found out that VS 2008 does not support Speech Server 2007.  So here is the order of installation that I have.

    VS 2008
    VS 2005 + SP 1 + SP 1 for Vista
OCS 2007 Speech Server (plus prerequistes)

I tried creating a simple workflow application with a statement.  When I try to debug I get the following error to popup:

"Unable to attach to the process.  Debugging cannot continue.  Unable to start debugging on the web server.  The web server could not find the requested resource."

Also, when I close the solution and re-open it.  The statement activity has a big red X through it (although you can still set the properties on the properties window - right click on the activity does not work though and the statement activity can not be deleted).

     Thanks,

Are you trying to develop this in 2008 or 2005?

Make sure that the app's virtual in IIS is pointing to the right place and make sure it is set to use the proper version of the framework.

    I am developing in 2005.

I have checked IIS and it is pointing to correct version of the framework.

Re: Debugging Error on Vista with VS2008 installed.

I called Microsoft about this.  The sample application that I sent them (had a answer call, a statement and hang up) worked fine prior to the installation of VS2008.  As soon as they installed VS2008, the application quit working.  They were not certain when a fix would be available.

Moral of the story is don't install VS2008 on a box that you want to do Speech Server 2007 work on.

    Thanks for the update.

I was thinking about installing VCS2008 as they said that it could reside fine with VS2005. But if it is going to screw up MSS 2007 then I'm just going to pass on VS2008.

There is a fix coming with VS 2008.  I will leave a post when they let me know that the fix is available.

    Not completely.

The red x issue seems to be caused by the .Net 3.0 Framework SP 1. Uninstalling the service pack seems to fix the problem (though you may need to install the 3.0 framework again).

Re: Debugging Error on Vista with VS2008 installed.

I am having the same problem here, but I have never installed visual studio 2008. I have only installed OCS 2007 and Visual Studio 2005, plus the prerequisite's.

I am trying to run the sample program Recognize Speech. Is there a specific process that I am supposed to attach to get this to debug correctly? Or is this message caused by something else?

"Unable to attach to the process.  Debugging cannot continue.  Unable to start debugging on the web server.  The web server could not find the requested resource."

The .NET 3.5 Framework will break things too. Do you have it installed.

No, I do not. I have the .NET Framework 2.0 SDK (x64) installed.

Re: Debugging Error on Vista with VS2008 installed.

I'm having this same problem.  I had SQL Server 2008 installed.  This also installed .NET 3.5 and some VS2008 components.

I'm having this issue after I've installed the red X fix and uninstalled all of this stuff.

Anyone know how I can fix this without doing something drastic (and time consuming) like reinstalling Windows?

Re: Debugging Error on Vista with VS2008 installed.

I am having the same problem here. VS2008 installed side-by-side w/VS2005. Very frustrating. Anyone have any further developments on this?
