I have had a lot of questions asked about what hardware and/or service to use to connect Speech Server to phone lines. Recently Microsoft has announced three Office Communications Server Strategic Gateway Partners.

  • Dialogic
  • AudioCodes
  • Quintum

So when do you need a hardware gateway? If your PBX doesn't support SIP, you probably will need to buy one of these gateways. If your PBX supports SIP, you probably will not need a gateway.  This applies to user of Exchange 2007 using UM features.

Note: Check with the manufacturer to see if your PBX is supported!
