Site news, Speech Server insight and assorted ramblings
Speech Technology Magazine’s 2006 Most Innovative Solutions Awards

One of my aplications won one of the  Speech Technology Magazine’s 2006 Most Innovative Solutions Awards.

About half way down the page you will see the write-up on Landstar's entry. I wrote the Speech Server part of this sytem and was one of the architects for the system as whole. The usage has gone up since the application was submitted and it is now averaging 29,000 outbound calls per day and using 92 ports. We made over 600,000 calls in June alone and I'm happy to report that MSS handled the load just fine.

I'm in the process of re-writing the app as a MSS 2007 app with the intentions of using SIP. We have done some heavy performance benchmarking on the 2004 version and will compare those numbers to the 2007 version after it goes live.

I've known about this for about 2 weeks but I wasn't allowed to talk about it.

My boss and his boss will be going to New York for SpeechTek but I'm being left behind. That's the life of a lowly developer.

I will be a SpeechTek too.  Please have the Landstar folks stop by the Cantata booth to say hello.

Hey Marshall,

excellent work on the MSS application. I've been looking into it as well but so far i'm at a stop since i don't have a "server" to put it on.

once i get a server (will order a cheapo Dell one in a month or two i reckon) i'll get cracking as well.

Marshall,

Congratulations on the award.  I wrote the speech application for ParkingCarma that also won the award.  I am interested in your thoughts about using SIP in 2007.

Thanks,

Christian
