Site news, Speech Server insight and assorted ramblings
Sneek Preview of Speech Serer 2007

Mithun Dahr, Albert Kooiman  and David Ollason from the Speech Marketing team recently did an interview with Robert Scoble for Channel 9. They talk about Speech Server and demo  some of the features of Speech server 2007.

You can watch as they build a small speech application using Workflow and the Conversational Grammar Builder. From the developer perspective these are the most exciting new tools in MSS 2007 and are where you will spend a lot of your developing time.

See the video here  on Channel 9. If it has been moved from the front page then you can still find it here.

The video is great and I even learned something. I hadn't discovered that you can right click on a QuestionAnswer activity and select Generate Branching to build the flow. I have been building the ifelse branching manually.

Another advantage of the video is that it gives you a chance to see some of the team behind the product. I've met each of these guys (I know most of the Speech server team) and this video allows you to see some of the enthusiasm that they have for the work they are doing. Everyone on the team is excited about their work and I think MSS 2007 reflects that.

Enjoy.

I'm pretty sure the Generate Branching option isn't available in the Beta. It was added after the Beta release. Bummer....

It is there in the beta. You need to create the grammar for the QuestionAnswer activity then right click on the QA and choose "Generate Branching".
Unfortunately it won't generate the code behind code for the condition. I'm going to enter that as an enhancement on the connect site.
