Marshall Harrison - "the gotspeech guy"

Site news, Speech Server insight and assorted ramblings
Off Topic - I just earned my HAM license

I know this is off topic but it is very important to me.

I just received my HAM license. I was into amateur radio back in the early '70s when I was in high school. Unfortunately I could never pass the code requirements.

In January of this year I got interested in ham radio, scanner monitoring  and shortwave listening (swl) again. I found a Realistic DX-160 like I had in the '70s on e-bay and I bought it. It has been a load of fun but it could use some tuning although it doesn't do bad for a 30 year old radio.

I started studying for my Technicians license and I took the test last Thursday (05/04) and my license was issued on 05/09.

My new call sign is KI4PBE so if you hear me on the air then give me a shout.

I've been trying to decide how much of my blog to make technical and how much to make personal. I'm still not sure but I decided to post this anyway and sort of "test the waters". Besides, if Scoble can get personal then maybe I can too.

Note: we need to keep Robert and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

I know, some of you are muttering under your breath that radio is already speech enabled - you turn it...
